One of my son’s friends, who lives in this area, recently told him that “Pill is always grey”. Hoping to prove him wrong, we chose what was meant to be a bright morning to combine this walk with another essential journey for our daily exercise, but in the end we had a slight weather malfunction and most of our walk was under clouds.
The conjoined villages of Ham Green, Pill and Easton-in-Gordano occupy a quiet location off the beaten track on the far side of the Avon Gorge. Walk Thirty-Three: Ham Green and Pill explores two of these communities, also taking in the River Avon and the major green space of Watch House Hill.
Pill may not have the most vibrant reputation, but it is an interesting old place full of odd corners. Worth a visit at least once.
