The sprawl of east Bristol has been under-represented in my collection of walks, because much of it is a bit difficult to pin down from a character point of view.
Walk Thirty-Seven: Whitehall, the Coombe Brook and St. George begins to make up for this by delving back into the inner-city part of the area. Starting at the lovely St. George’s Park, missing from my collection until now, the route joins up several contrasting green spaces, including Greenbank Cemetery, Ridgeway Playing Fields and two different parts of the little-known Coombe Brook Valley. It’s a meandering but very pleasant route for an early summer day around a less well-explored part of the city.
