Beyond Bristol: Common land and rail history

At the top of Siston Hill

On the far eastern edge of the urban area, the territory featured in this walk will be familiar to anyone who has cycled the Bristol and Bath Railway Path. Walk Thirty: Siston Common explores this lovely historic common and reveals the many intrusive changes that have been made to it over the years in the name of progress. Taking in parts of the Railway Path in the process, the walk visits two former railway stations with lots of historic character and ventures across the Avon Ring Road to visit the lesser-known upper section of Siston Common, now cut off from the rest by major roads.
